Conference in Kuala Lumpur

First flight to Kuala Lumpur

The "8th International Conference on Information and Multimedia Technology" organized by IACSIT (International Association of Computer and Information Technology) was held in Kuala Lumpour at Ambasaddor Hotel, 29-31 December 2016. The registration of the coference had started in the morning, but I light by Garuda to Kuala Lumpur in the evening, because there was so many activities. It was my first trip to Kuala Lumpur after the last one 7 years ago.  I did not went to hotel Ambassador where I would stay by taxi, I rather went there by train from airport to KLCentral, and then I continued by taxi to the hotel. It was not as crowded as in Jakarta in the street at 9.00 p.m..

Conference

The conference was opened by the chair with many participants from several countries. One of the keynote speakers was Professor Chin-Chen Chang. I remembered that I had not completed my IEEE Senior Membership application, so I wished that one of them could sibmit the reference for the senior member application
The conference were breaked for lunch at 12.00 for 90 minutes. The waiter said, “What do you want as a starter? How about seafood or a nice prawn cocktail, and then we have steak for main course”. I have not been eating meat for some years, so I ordered salmon or chicken steak. Fortunately there was salmon steak that I liked so much.  A participant from India sat beside me and he said that he was a vegetarian, he ordered some vegeterian food. I wanted some straberries and cream for desert.

After having lunch, it was about time I presented my paper for about 20 minutes. My research was about developing multimedia based mobile game for kids. One of the attendee asked me why I did not tested using experiment method, that meant that one respondents of on class were treated to learn conventionally, and the other were treated using mobile game model. I answered that the research used Reseach and Development method according to Borg and Gall, so the treatment was different from experiment method, the focus of the research was developing learning model in order to meet the learning needs in a kindergten. The learning model was used by children as a learning compliment for encouraging children to learn math.

We had dinner at 6.00 p.m after the conference had been ended. During the conference I made a Chinese friend named Wang Yu. She was studying in Tsinghua University and finishing her study. If I had met her when I was In Beijing two years ago, I would have visited the university. I asked her whether she would have time to go with me to  University of Malaya, but she answered that she was so sorry due to flight back to Beijing, after she will have shopping..

After paper presentation session had been ended, we had dinner together. I took a seat together with ICMT Committee, kenynote speakers. and conference organizer.  Emma Wang was the the conference organizer whom I talked to, whether possibility of the future conference in Jakarta, Indonesia.
